First your employer need to obtain positive or neutral labour market opinion form ministry of Human Resource and Skill Development Canada HRSDC .

 HRSDC will issue a “Confirmation of the offer of Employment” and send it to the Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in your country. The employer will be provided with a copy of the confirmation of offer of employment, to be forwarded to you. Once the Canadian visa office receives your confirmation of offer of employment, they will contact you. You may be asked to go to an interview or to send some information by mail. You may also be asked to have a medical check up.
Once the Visa Officer is satisfied that you have all of the necessary documents, you will receive an employment authorization. The employment authorization will state that you can work at a specific job for a specific period of time for a specific employer. An employment authorization will not be issued to you to come to Canada in the hopes of finding work.

If the visa office approves your application, you will be given instructions for medical tests. When our officials receive proof that your medical results are satisfactory and that you have met all other requirements, you will be issued an employment authorization. An employment authorization is not a visa or  travel document. You must also get a passport and a visitor visa (if required). The requirement for a visitor visa will depend on the country you are coming from and passport you are carrying.

You will need to produce the authorization when you arrive in Canada, as well as your passport, visa (if issued) and airline tickets.

This type of job offers can get work permit for up to two years is you are to be employed in the jobs with NOC Skill level O, A or B. If your job is NOC skill level C or D  you will also get up to 2 year work permit due to recent changes to the visa system and if the workers want extension ,they must leave Canada for 4 months before extension is granted.

There also are temporary work permit for seasonal agricultural workers to help harvesting berries or wheat at western Canadian farms .Such seasonal work permits are issues for up to 8 months only.
